Invisalign®

Many people experience crooked, uneven teeth. Crooked teeth often have patients feeling embarrassed about their smile. For years, traditional braces have helped patients get a straight, even smile. Traditional braces do a great job of correcting misaligned teeth, but they are extremely noticeable.

As an alternative, we offer Invisalign for patients who want a more inconspicuous way to get straighter teeth. Straight teeth not only provide a beautiful smile, but they also keep your teeth healthier by decreasing the risk of wear and improving gum health. For a new, beautiful smile, learn more about Invisalign at South Meadows Dental & Orthodontics during a consultation with our board certified orthodontist.

WHAT IS INVISALIGN®?

A series of custom-made aligners are designed to create the perfect movement at the right time.  The trays are worn full-time for an optimal path to a straighter smile.  Many patients are able to see results within months of treatment.  Also, with advanced computer technology, our patients even have the option to see projected tooth movements* during their consultation, giving them an idea of what results they might expect.

*Simulations are not a prediction of the actual outcome.

HOW IS INVISALIGN® TREATMENT DONE?

The Invisalign® treatment offered at South Meadows Dental & Orthodontics is very popular with our teen and adult patients. There are no molds or impressions taken of your teeth.  Instead, with an iTero™ computer imaging system, a quick scan generates an accurate, virtual 3D image of your teeth.  This digital image is used to create a series of 3-D printed trays that will be custom for your tooth movement.  Each patient is given a set of clear plastic aligners that will be worn for one to two weeks at a time, depending on how the treatment plan is laid out.  With each aligner change, teeth gradually shift into a straighter position.  The aligners are worn 22 hours a day, giving you enough time to eat, brush, and floss.  The ability to remove the aligners is beneficial when keeping teeth clean during treatment.  Over the course of treatment with Invisalign®, our patients come in for periodic checkups so our team can observe the progress and Dr. Struby can make adjustments as needed.  Each patient is different, so the length of treatment will vary, depending on individual needs.

REASONS FOR GETTING INVISALIGN®

Other than wanting straighter teeth, there are many reasons why patients choose to get Invisalign. These reasons are:

  • Inconspicuous
  • Comfortable
  • Easy to Remove
  • Hygienic
  • Not Prone to Breakage

Many people choose Invisalign not only for its excellent results but for its comfort and convenience, as well.  With Invisalign, the glassy-clear trays are virtually invisible, so no one will notice you are wearing them, while your teeth are straightened.  Another reason people choose Invisalign is for comfort since there are no wires or brackets break or bother your lips and cheeks.

INVISALIGN FAQs

How expensive is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a treatment alternative that involves a doctor-prescribed, doctor-directed, doctor-monitored, series of trays that puts pressure on teeth to move them into alignment. Many patients are good candidates for this option. The cost of Invisalign varies based upon the type of treatment necessary. There are various possibilities that include a limited number of trays, for minor orthodontic problems, to an abundance of trays, for more complex movements. Each treatment modality requires a different amount of time and there is a different cost associated with each option. We provide a variety of financing opportunities to help make your vision of a straighter smile affordable! Call South Meadows Dental & Orthodontics to schedule a consultation, so you can discover which Invisalign option is right for you.

How long do you have to wear Invisalign?

Invisalign is worn by adults and adolescents for a period of time prescribed by Dr. Meagan Struby. In most cases, treatment lasts between 6 to 18 months. The complexity of a case usually determines how long the treatment will be.

Is Invisalign better than braces?

In certain cases Invisalign works equal to or better than braces. Conversely, braces are better suited for some cases. It is best to have a no-obligation consultation with Dr. Meagan Struby to determine which treatment option is best for you.

How painful is Invisalign?

Other than normal tooth movement pressures, our patients find Invisalign to be a very comfortable way of straightening their smile. The trays are tight, but smooth and contour securely to the teeth. It is a nice option for those who have had braces before and notice some relapse.

Can I eat with Invisalign in?

Though it is not a good idea to eat with your trays in, you can eat most things with your trays out. Once you have eaten, it is a good idea to rinse your trays and put them right back in. Eating with the trays in can damage the trays, stain them, or allow them to collect food. Drinking anything other than water with your trays in is not a good idea, either. It can lead to unwanted decay. Water is your best bet, with your trays in place. Invisalign trays should be worn 22 hours/day, which gives you about 2 hours/day to eat and brush your teeth.
